Travelling Overseas

 

If you have made the decision to travel with your own equipment there's a few things you'll need to obtain and supply to Customs and/or the Department of Defence:

 

Flight number;

Drivers licence;

Passport; 

ESTA;

Firearms licences;

Permits for each firearm you are travelling with;

B957 Export Declaration;

B957a Export Declaration Supplementary Page;

Restricted Goods Permit (RGP) Dept of Defence;

B709 Forms (to return to Australia with your own firearms);

Invitation as registered shooter from competition you are attending;

Address where you are staying and contact details.

And

When travelling to the USA with firearms you will need to liaise with the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) to obtain a permit.  The application form is known as Form 6NIA and can be found here.

You are only allowed to carry up to 5kg of ammunition, usually equivalent to approximately 300 x .38 rifle/pistol rounds.
